    We are the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Community Benefit Society (EIYCBS) trading as the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre (EIYC), at 195 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh EH10 4DQ

  2. Why do we collect your information?
    We collect and hold your personal data for the legitimate purpose of registering you for classes. This provides our contract with you and your information is collected for the operation of this contract.

  3. What Information do we collect?
    The data we collect about you is your registration details;

    name, address, email address and phone number plus health information which may include emergency contact details.

    Additionally, if booking via our website, we may collect information relating to your use of internet connected devices including, but not limited to, your IP address, browser type, referral source, operating system and date and time of your visit.

    We also use two types of cookies on our website, one is essential if you are to access secure areas and register, book and pay online. The other collects information anonymously so that we can improve our website processes.

    You can manage and/or delete cookies if you wish. If you do disable our cookies you may find that certain sections of our website will no longer work.

  4. How do we use your information?

    We use your information to register and book classes and for the operation of your booking. This includes email or telephone confirmation and updates relating to your class booking.

    The health information you share with us is available to centre teachers and admin personnel to allow the best care for you in class. Your data may also be used in statistical analysis of class participation and analytics for future business planning.

    With your consent, we shall inform you of matters of interest relating to the Centre and local Iyengar Yoga events via email or post.

5. Who shall we share your information with?
Your personal data will be shared with our web hosting company to enable your registration and booking.

Data will also be shared with Stripe, our payment gateway, to process your transactions when booking through our website.

If necessary, your data will be shared with any other regulators, government authority or legal entity to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation or to protect our rights. We may also share personal information with professional and legal advisors for the purpose of taking advice.

6. How long will we keep you information?
Your data will be held for the purposes of HMRC and accounting for 7 years following a booking with us.

7. Your rights
You have a number of rights and choices relating to the data we collect about you.

  • It is your right to access, restrict or ask for your data to be erased.
    To do this you can log in to your account and your "Myspace" section of our website to :
     - Access and update your details
     - Opt in or out of newsletter emails
     - Export your personal data
     - Request that your data is deleted by choosing to "Deactivate your account"
       (Please Note : by deactivating your account you will no longer be able to book classes via our website.)

  • You may also decline, disable or delete cookies on our website but you may find that certain sections of our website will no longer work as you would expect.

  • It is your right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk
